This is probably one of the beefiest sweaters on the market. Coming in at 14Oz. which is heavy enough to keep you warm on just about any winter day. It's like wearing a snug blanket.
The 14Oz/400Gram fleece is made in Wakayama, Japan on old USA Sinker Weave Looms. Sinker machines were invented in the late 1940's and became more popular than the slow loopweel machines. The sweat is sewn together with the fabric turned sideways (90 Degrees). This design feature became popular in the early 1950's and solved the problem of the (Loopwheel)sweats shrinking in length. This feature allowed the sweats to be constructed without seams on the shoulders and most importantly it gives the sweat the vintage cropped look/fit. Underarm ribbing or side gussets are inserted to adapt to the size adjustments after the washing, this feature often seen on vintage pieces and later on.
